2019 Ford Edge with All-Wheel Drive Disconnect
The Ford Edge has quickly become a favorite among drivers for its incredible versatility and amazing fuel efficiency. And now, the 2019 Ford Edge with All-Wheel Disconnect system on the all-new ST trim level is ready to show how it offers better traction and optimize your fuel usage.
The available All-Wheel Drive Disconnect system on the new 2019 Ford Edge has been engineered to detect various driving conditions and seamlessly, automatically shift between 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive systems. This advanced system utilizes a form of artificial intelligence that calculates information that is picked up from dozens of sensors in order to determine when all-wheel drive system is needed. The switch between the two drive types is so smooth and fast that you won’t even notice when it happens as you drive. And the system helps reduce fuel consumption by only using all-wheel drive traction when its needed.
Along with the new drivetrain, there are other new features that the 2019 Edge will have that will maximize fuel efficiency as well. The 2019 Edge ST even comes with a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost® engine, allowing for an estimated fuel rating of 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway.* There has also been an overall improvement in the Edge’s fuel economy with up to 21 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway with All-Wheel Drive and up to 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway (actual mileage may vary). Not to mention the various new features and technologies that improve both fuel savings and aerodynamics:
- 8-speed automatic transmission with two overdrive gears
- Active transmission warm-up that uses reclaimed heat energy
- Durable, synthetic, ultra-low viscosity transmission fluid specifically engineered for the Edge
- Standard Auto Start-Stop
- Deceleration fuel shut-off
- Exhaust gas recirculation
- Active grille shutters
- Full underbody shields and air curtains
The new 2019 Ford Edge and its high-performance ST trim will make its way to dealerships this fall.
